Racine - Mark Ladd (1994- 2004)

Mark Ladd - Register of Deeds - Racine CountyMark Ladd was appointed Register of Deeds by Governor Tommy Thompson on January 12, 1994 and has been re-elected by the citizens of Racine County till he took a job with ingeo and served through 2004.  Previously, Mark worked as food service director at Johnson’s Wax Worldwide headquarters and also as operations manager for Reprographic Technologies, his father’s commercial blueprint and computer graphics service bureau.  In the latter position, he learned skills in computer aided drafting and large-format scanning which provided good background for moving to managing the first optical imaging system installed in a register of deeds office in Wisconsin.

Mark believes in life-long learning.  Through college coursework, seminars and classes he has earned the Wisconsin Register of Deeds Association Professional Certificate and has successfully completed the challenging University of Wisconsin Certified Public Managers program.

Mark has been very active in his professional organizations.  He has served as President of the Wisconsin Register of Deeds Association (WRDA) and on many committees, including the Technology and Legislative Committees.  He has also devoted his considerable energy to the Wisconsin County Constitutional Officers (WCCO) organization, serving as secretary for that group.  In addition, Mark has served on various state boards and commissions via appointment by the Governor.

Mark supervises a busy register of deeds office.  He has empowered his staff by using technology to increase productivity and also by creating a pleasant working environment.   No moss grows under Marks feet, either while he works in his office or crisscrosses the state to attending meetings.  Mark’s motto is “Have cell-phone – will travel,” and he often conducts business in route.

Mark has been a leader in his profession who plans for the future, educates himself regarding new technology and the best strategy to meet the new challenges, and he is generous in sharing his findings with his colleagues.  Mark’s fellow registers and other officials look to him for advice regarding optical imaging and document storage, Internet access, electronic signatures and electronic transmission of legal documents.

In his personal life, Mark has volunteered for more good causes than you can shake a stick at.  He has been an active member of local nonprofit organizations and also works hard in the political campaigns of friends.  In fact, “politics” is listed as one of his hobbies. Mark keeps physically fit through his hobby of cross-training.
