Pepin County - Lisa M. Traun
Lisa was elected as Pepin County Register of Deeds on November 5, 2024, and officially took office on January 6, 2025. She has worked for Pepin County since 1994 and in 2017 became the Deputy Register of Deeds where she gained her experience and knowledge of real estate and vital records. A lifelong resident of Pepin County, Lisa graduated from Durand High School and Chippewa Valley Technical College with an Associate’s degree. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, going to movies, exploring new places, playing Pickleball, being crafty and spending time with her family and friends.

About the Register of Deeds Office
Our county seat is Durand with a population of 7,441. Pepin County Register of Deeds employs one full-time deputy in addition to the Register. We offer online searching for real estate records through our website using Laredo or Tapestry (Fidlar Technologies). On-line searches go back to the mid 1980’s and our inhouse tract indexes and Grantor/Grantee indexes go back to the 1800’s. We continue to back-index as time permits. If there is a document not available on-line, please contact our office and we can try to get that document released online for purchase. Pepin County offers “Property Fraud Alert” which is a free notification system. To sign up, go to PropertyFraudAlert.com. As of January 3, 2017, copies of birth records (for individuals born in Wisconsin) may be obtained at any county Register of Deeds. As of January 2, 2020, copies of marriage records (for individuals married in Wisconsin) may be obtained at any county Register of Deeds. Death and Divorce certificates are also available depending on the date of the event. We also file Military Discharges (DD-214 Form). DD-214’s are only available in the county where they were registered. We accept cash, check and major credit card payments for copy fees and vital record purchases. Genealogists are welcome during business hours. Appointments are not necessary, but, you may want to call ahead to check availability.
